Automations for teachers

Teachers, administrators, and educational professionals, we know your “back to school” starts long before the first bell rings.

You’re setting up classrooms, finalizing lesson plans, organizing supplies, and maybe even color-coding your calendar (again). It’s a lot and IFTTT is here to make it a little easier.

Whether you’re tracking homework, sharing class photos with parents, or customizing smart speaker announcements for your students, IFTTT can help you automate the everyday and reclaim a few precious minutes. Integrations with tools like Google Drive, Google Sheets, and multiple calendars help keep everything running smoothly. You can even set up a text to automatically let your family know you’re on your way home or get a gentle nudge when it’s your turn for morning bus duty.

With over 1000 services and devices to connect, IFTTT lets you build routines and Applets that help everything work better together, at school and at home. And just in time for the new year, we’ve launched a fresh collection of teacher-ready Applets to help you start the semester strong.

Save permission forms and important work

Using the Camera widget, quickly snap and upload a photo to Google Drive or Dropbox. This is a great way to save copies of permission slips for field trips, have a backup of emergency lists, or take a picture of your whiteboard at the end of a lecture.

Get a reminder for specific events

Bus or lunch rotations can occur randomly throughout the week or over the school year. Create specific reminders when keywords appear in your iOS or Google Calendar.

Custom voice commands

If you have an Google Assistant in your classroom for timers or music, make it work for you with custom voice triggers. Google Assistant can even have customized responses to make your students giggle.

Visual cues

Set timers and create visual cues in your classroom using smart lights. For example, change the color of your Philips Hue, LIFX, or Nanoleaf lights when a focus session starts, then switch to a different color or even a color loop when time is up. It’s a subtle, effective way to manage quiet work periods while giving students a clear, visual signal.

Share with parents

For teachers who choose to share photos with parents via a private social channel, IFTTT can help you send specific photos to those spaces.

Track YouTube videos

Save the YouTube videos you want to share with your class by liking them and saving them to your preferred platform.

Mute your phone

Automatically mute your phone when you walk into school to avoid being interrupted or when you have scheduled meetings in your calendar. Maybe recommend this one to your students as well..😉
